Twitter has more than 145 million registered users and more people are using mobile phones to access the microblogging service, according to founder Evan Williams.
Williams, in a blog post on Twitter, Thursday night, also said that nearly 300 thousand third-party applications have been developed in this service, which allows users to connect to one another with the message 140 characters or less.
"The new service helps people get the most out of Twitter, contributing to the growth in users and new business opportunities - which are both essential for long-term survival of ecosystems," said Williams, as reported by AFP.
Chief executive / CEO of Twitter says, the number of people who use Twitter on mobile devices has soared 62 percent since mid-April and 16 percent of new users through mobile phones, up from five percent in April.
Forty-six percent of Twitter users regularly use mobile devices, he said.
Twitter obtain third-party mobile application called Tweetie in April and turn it into an official Twitter program for Apple's iPhone.
There are also applications for Twitter users on the Blackberry Research in Motion `s and devices supported by Google's mobile operating system Android.
Williams has also published figures on the top 10 applications that have been used to access Twitter during the last 30 days.
Seventy-eight percent use Twitter.com official website, 14 percent use m.twitter.com, eight percent use SMS, eight using Twitter for iPhone and seven percent use Twitter to Blackberry.
Other applications are in 10 major TwitPic, a program to upload photos, TweetDeck, Echofon, Google Friend Connect and UberTwitter.
Twitter says the addition of numbers up to more than 100 percent because people often use more than one application to access these services.
